Meet Dr. Bryant

Dr. Ted Bryant has been serving the eye care needs of the Southern Tier of New York since 2003, and is excited to be a part of the Ithaca community.  His mission is very simple and refreshing:  to provide thorough, accurate, visual analysis and eye health examinations in an unhurried setting.  In today’s world, it is all too common for medical visits to be rushed and stressful.  We hear all too often about patient’ complaints of exams performed by technicians, followed by the doctor “waltzing in and out,” with no explanations or time to answer questions.  At Clarity Eye Care, your doctor will analyze all test results and perform the exam himself, followed by full explanations with time for questions and answers.  We invite you to join us in this rewarding interactive experience.

Originally from a small town south of Reading, Pennsylvania, Dr. Bryant was inspired by his childhood optometrist, Dr. Bill Witwer.  At age 8, he decided to become either an eye doctor or follow in his father’s footsteps and become a lineman for the electric company.  With his father’s encouragement to “work with your head and not you hands,” Dr. Bryant decided to pursue a career in optometry.  He attended the University of Pittsburgh in an accelerated Pre-Optometry program and graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 1999.  Since that time, Dr. Bryant has practiced in a large ophthalmology clinic, gaining extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of eye disease and worked directly with surgeons in the pre and post-op care of patients who have had glaucoma or cataract surgery.  He most recently practiced in a large optometric group in the Southern Tier as Chief of Glaucoma Services.   Dr. Bryant has lectured to optometric groups about glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and enjoys presenting programs on various eye care topics to community groups. Dr. Bryant has also served as a clinical consultant for the world’s leading contact lens manufacturer. He enjoys motorcycling, playing the drums, camping, and visiting the 1000 Islands with his wife Betsy and daughter Lexi.
