Dr. Burton Steven Markowitz, 73, passed away on Dec. 29, 2017.  Many of our long time patients remember the quick wit and hearty laugh of Dr. Burton Markowitz.  He was simply “Doc” to those who knew him well.   He was a problem-solver, a hugger, a master joke teller, a lover of trivia, puns, travel, and good food.   For 45 years, he provided eye care to his Ithaca community and treated his patients with care and friendship.  Doc retired 5 years ago and entrusted me with the task of caring for his patients and serving the town and the people he loved.  Although we did not agree on EVERY decision that was needed to move the practice forward, I will always remember, respect and treasure the years and years of wisdom that he so graciously handed down.  Dr. Markowitz and Tammy recently relocated to Virginia to be closer to their daughter and new grandchild, and would like to invite all of Doc’s former patients and friends to attend a gathering to honor his memory.  It will be held on Sunday June 24th from 2:00-4:00pm at Bang’s Funeral Home.  All are welcome to come pay their respects, share stories, and visit with the family.  Here is a link to his obituary.   – with condolences, Dr. Ted Bryant
